Upscale Mexican Dining Mecca Nestled in the Jungles of Punta de Mita

Acclaimed Chef Luis Fitch brings his signature “Alta Cocina Mexicana” cuisine to Punta de Mita with Los Xitomates. The name means tomato reflecting the origin of this Aztec fruit which is one of Mexico’s greatest contributions to the world’s gastronomy. This upscale destination restaurant is located minutes from the tony enclave of Punta Mita in burgeoning Nayarit area. Nestled in the jungle, this Mexican villa has an expansive terrace and swimming pool offering stunning views over the jungle canopy down to the Pacific Ocean with vistas of the Bay and Puerto Vallarta in the distance.Chef Fitch pays homage to the country’s pre-Columbian roots, then combines “New World” elements from the Colonial period, up to today’s most recent influences from Mediterranean, Continental, Caribbean and Asian cuisine.

The drive up to the 60-seat restaurant takes the traveler on a mission through the lower jungle region. Being here is the real Mexico. Once at the top of the road, a palapa-roofed, peaceful villa with massive wooden doors welcomes guests. The interiors combines contemporary design with folk accents. Strong ironwork, hand-carved woods and Mexican art effortlessly comes together for an authentic cultural experience. The bar features Fitch’s own Mezcal, which is hand-distilling in Oaxaca, with a cocktail list to match. An array of Tequila and expansive Mexican wine list rounds out the libation selections.
